Restore Mala

Release. Relax. Restore

In order to move forward we to let go of the things that are holding us back.We need to release what no longer serves us so that we can make room in our hearts and minds for thoughts, experiences, people and things that are essential to our authentic selves and our purpose. When we release, we are able to restore the balance in our lives.

Turquoise is a very calming and refreshing color, that is often associated with emotional balance and intuition.  White is an inherently positive colour, reminding us of fresh starts and simplicity.  Wear this mala as a reminder to create simplicity and tranquility in your life, allowing you to release that which no longer serves you, and restore balance.

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

A remarkable full moon is coming up on June 9th, exactly at 9:10 am EDT.

It occurs on the same day, within the same hour, of the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter, turning stationary direct.

We can expect a significant energetic shift activated by this full moon in truth-seeking and adventurous Sagittarius.

The key themes are truth, expansion, and collaboration.

Here’s how we can work in alignment with the energies of this full moon:

    1. Connect with your purpose and big “why”. Once your highest vision is made crystal clear in your mind during this full moon, make sure that what you feel in your body feels good in your heart as you envision it. If there is no emotion or no connection sensed, seek a new image in your inner eye until you receive the aligned vision AND the sensation of what you are here to create and experience. It will feel exciting, expansive, delicious or light (e.g. like a relief) in your body. Then, tune into this expansive feeling for a few moments, breathe it all in, and allow all levels of your being to experience this as a new reality.
    2. Increase your reach. It’s a fantastic week to reach 3 times further and to connect with like-hearted communities and exciting collaborators. For example, share your blog or video in 3 new groups, or engage with 3 influencers that you appreciate. The energy of this full moon and stationary Jupiter can help you amplify your inspiring message many times.
    3. Spruce up your sacred space or your 2017 vision board (we are exactly halfway through the year now – yay!) or look for one new inspired visual that holds the vibration or intention of what you are looking to create this year in a bigger way. It can also be a new crystal or a sacred item that carries high-vibrational energy for you. Let it help you connect with the energy of expansion and self-belief on this highly-activating full moon.
    4. Embrace a new community. This full moon has the power of bringing communities, destined partners, and allies who share a common purpose together, even if they come from diverse paths. With Venus and Mars in a harmonious aspect, and Jupiter stationary in social and partner-oriented Libra, we are invited to expand our beliefs around the meaning and value of teamwork, contribution, and commitment in partnerships. To choose to work together even when we are not ready to fully trust or surrender to the unknown. There is a mystical quality to trusting our team, partner, and universe during this time, becoming acutely aware of that one excuse that can divert us from the path and still take a big leap forward (Jupiter quincunx Neptune).
    5. Release, release to feel lighter on this full moon. Remember to do some releasing work. The full moon is exact at 9:10 am EDT (Eastern Time Zone) on June 9th, however, there will also be a very helpful alignment in the evening hours to help you tune in to the energy of emotional freedom and release what’s holding you back (the Moon aligns with the highly-potent Galactic Centre and Saturn as it approaches a trine with liberating Uranus exactly 12 hours later). The “when” and the “how” of the releasing ritual are not as critical. It is your intention to release that is most important (i.e. all energies, thoughts, emotions that no longer support your joyous expansion).

Living a Mindful Life in a Material World

FullMoon_04

The moon is full today, can you feel her power? We felt called to tap into la luna’s vibes of presence + release and use this energy to introduce our new guest written Blog 108 series.

Kate has prepared a series that features the importance of living a mindful life in a material world. Take a moment to breathe deeply and learn more about mindfulness. Enjoy! x

Hey guys! First off I just want to say how excited I am to be here on Blog 108. My name is Kate Horodyski, and I am a wellness and travel blogger based in Halifax.

Over the next few months, I’m going to be sharing an article series on how we can bring more mindfulness into our daily lives, whether we’re scrolling through Instagram, going on a first date, shopping, or anything in between.

I’ll be kicking off the series with a post about brining mindfulness into social media usage, but first I want to share why the topic of mindfulness is so important to me.

When I was 23 I discovered the worlds of wellness and spirituality, and I dedicated the next 5 years of my live to learning and practicing everything I could on the subject. This sounds really great, but what ended up happening is that I became almost addicted to self help, and I got lost in all of the spiritual “actions” like yoga, juicing, using crystals, etc.

After while, I started realizing that all of this “work” I was doing really wasn’t making me much happier, and I decided that I needed to let go of my obsession with self help and get back to basics.

As I began stripping everything away, one idea kept coming up for me: Mindfulness. The practice of being present and mindful in my daily life just felt so right and it brought me a sense of peace that no other practice ever had. In my old mindset, I thought living a happy spiritual life meant letting go of things like social media, alcohol, dairy, and TV. I wanted to have fun, but I’d also deemed so many things that I considered fun as bad or un-spiritual.

Diffuser-1-1Once I started practicing mindfulness, I saw that anything could be spiritual. I could be present in any moment whether I was at the mall or sitting in meditation. We live in a material world and I want to enjoy everything it has to offer. But I also want a depth to my life that goes beyond the physical world. For me, I’ve found that in mindfulness.

This is not a practice I have mastered, and I do not live my life in a constant state of mindfulness. It is however, something that has had a profound impact on me and helped me to find much more peace and depth in my life.

I am so passionate about merging mindfulness with our daily lives- bringing spirituality off of the mat and into everyday life. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject! Let’s continue the conversation in the comment section below. What mindfulness means to you and how do you incorporate it into your life? Share your tips on how you live a mindful life in our material world, or share areas in your life in which you’re struggling to find this balance.

Be sure to check back next month for a look at how we can bring mindfulness into our social media accounts.

Finding Balance: Effort + Surrender

“Effort and surrender are like two wings of a bird. Both are necessary for a smooth and joyful flight.”

 Stillness-Mala

In our modern, fast-paced world, we have spent the majority of our lives cultivating the skill of rapidly moving from place to place, or task to task. We are taught to view stillness as laziness,  and surrender as giving up. But surrender does not mean weakness or powerlessness – instead it means meeting life where it is, without trying to change or manipulate it; accepting the moment as is. One of the best ways to learn this is by cultivating stillness of both the body and mind.

How many times have you been swept up in the drama of the past, replaying events that have already happened and cannot be changed? How many times have you found yourself filled with anxiety, short of breath, worried about future events that may never even take place? Often times it is the ego, or the sense of ‘I’ that wants to take us out of the present moment, the only place where life truly exists. We are taught from an early age for the need to control our surroundings, to control outcomes of situations, to even control one another. How wonderful would it be if we could begin to let go of this ‘need’ for control, this false idea that having control brings happiness or power? Your highest power lies in the ability to let go.

In Sanskrit there is a term, “Ishvara Pranidhana” which translates to surrendering to a higher source. For Patanjali, Ishvara pranidhana is an infallible practice for dissolving the endless agitations of the mind, and in turn a means to experiencing the ultimate unified state of yoga: samadhi. How? Because Ishvara pranidhana shifts our perspective from the obsession with the ego, with “I”—with our narrow individual concerns and perspective—that causes so much of the mind’s distraction and creates a sense of separation from our Source. Much like anything else, applying this practice is easier said than done, especially if one has never had much experience with something like this before. This sensation of surrendering your control can be experienced in simple exercises such as learning to listen internally to the sound of your breath, becoming an observer to the processes of the body rather than controlling the outcomes with the mind.

Surrender-Blog108

For many people, the idea of effort is easy to accept. “No pain, no gain” is a familiar saying. But too much effort can cause implosion. Think again of the flight of a bird. How could it make its journey south for the winter without surrendering itself to the directions and the power of the wind? It would never make it. Surrender is often defined as giving up completely to the power of another. But in yoga we find the “sweet” in the surrender. It is more of a softening to the moment, a release of tension, a belief in the idea that we are truly supported and cared for, an acceptance and love of our truest selves. We can’t fly without surrender. Effort without softening is over-effort. We need to accept that we cannot control everything.

Surrender-Header

When effort and surrender combine the result is pure ecstasy. If we approach our yoga with a playful attitude the balance of effort and surrender becomes second nature. The ego may want to perform a particular pose for show but the body or mind may not be ready. If we try to force the pose with our will, we may cause injury. It is easy to cling to physical ideals, but our bodies are all different. So instead of forcing your way into a pose, ease and explore your way into it with gentleness and compassion supported with a strong foundation of the awareness of your breath. Working from your center gives your pose its power. Playing the edges helps to rediscover your center. Yoga is dynamic. It pulses with the breath and with the beat of nature. There is always a new discovery, an awakening if you remain open to it. Bring this energy and attitude into your practice and feel your whole life blossom.

Full Moon Releasing Ritual

This Monday, June 20th brings a Full Moon, which is a time in the Lunar Cycle that is best for letting things go. Whether they be emotions, compulsions, or just things that no longer serve you, we want to assist you in clearing your life of these negative energies + making room for new intentions that will come with the New Moon.

Let’s start with a run down on the moon phases. There are 6 different Moon phases each with their own magical astrological significance.

FullMoon1The New Moon: Represents fresh starts and new possibilities. A great time to set new intentions for what you want to manifest in your life. Set new routines, change up your yoga practice, or develop new affirmations.

First Quarter: often referred to as the Half Moon. This is often a trial + error period, but keep your vibes positive, this testing time is helping you to realign yourself in order for your intentions to manifest.

Waxing Moon: This is a time when you will likely experience the most growth and action. Results will come about in this time, keep your arms + heart open to these changes.

Full Moon: When the moon is completely circle. It is an excellent time to release the things that no longer serve you. The things you no longer need, the things that are getting in the way of the manifestation of your dreams. The things that are no longer supporting your journey. A perfect time to let go of the aspects of yourself that you have outgrown.

Waning Moon: As the moon wanes your energies and thoughts begin to turn inward. This is a good time for self reflection: are you on the correct path, are you doing things that make your soul happy? Are you working towards the manifestation of your dreams? Are you living your life with the proper intentions?

Third Quarter: A good time to rest and recuperate, wind down before the next New Moon. A good time to get your intentions in order, a good time to clear out the “dead weight.” To tap into your hidden gems that have become uncovered from the shedding of things that no longer serve you.

What does the Full Moon mean to us?

We want to shed our fears, anger and self criticism, and make room for new intentions + a more positive outlook. We want to reconnect with our inner goddess, re-establish our strength and get in touch with our inner wisdom.

Why is it a good time to release things from your life that no longer serve you?

By this time you have gone through the trial + error period, and it is becoming clear to you what is working for you. What is making your soul smile? Is what you are doing powered by intention  and leading you the right direction on your path? By this point in the moon cycle you should be clear on these answers. You will find that you want to let go of the things that aren’t working for you.

Everyone’s Full Moon Releasing Ritual is different, but here is what works for us.

We invite you to follow along with our full moon releasing ritual to help you let go of the things that no longer serve you. Here is what you will need:

1) Create a sacred space that has significance to you. This might be a small quiet space with some of your favourite gemstones or adornments, for the Full moon you will want this space to be outside.
2) Have a candle or materials to make a small, controlled fire. (as well as a fire resistant dish to place the paper in)
3) You will also need a paper + pen, on this page you will write down what it is you want to let go, it can be more than one emotion, or thought that you are trying to release. We have provided a printable page perfect for writing what you want to release on.
4) Add your name and the date on the page.
5) Take a deep breath and announce to yourself that you are ready & allowing yourself to let this go.
6) Throw the folded note into the fire, or light it with the candle and place it in the fire resistant bowl.
7) Watch as the paper burns. Sit in silence for a few moments, once the paper is completely burned this will allow room for creativity and inspiration. Allow these ideas to flow freely as you begin to prepare for the New Moon.

This ritual allows us to truly let go of the things that no longer serve us, and open us up to new opportunities. Follow your intuition and your energy. Happy releasing + happy manifesting.
